Mar 4th, 2026 — While individual wins often grab the headlines, it was the sheer depth of our boys' distance squad that defined the meet against Stevenson. In a sport that often focuses on the lone runner, the Breakers showed up as a pack, sweeping the top spots and securing massive points for the team total.
Final Scores:
Men's Team Pacific Grove 102 – 30 Stevenson
Women's Team Pacific Grove 67.5 – 66.5 Stevenson
Personal Records = 42!
The 1600m set the tone for the day. It wasn't just a win; it was a statement. We took 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places, with Antony Gabrik, Betinho Zunguze, Gabe Alt, and Bennett Paterson shutting down the scoreboard. That same relentless depth was on display in the 800m and the 3200m, where we again claimed the top four spots.
When you have a big team, it’s easy for individuals to get lost in the shuffle, but this distance crew is proving that we work together. By pushing each other in every rep, they aren’t just winning races—they are rewriting their own record books.
Pacific Grove distance running isn't just about one fast kid; it’s about a wave of Breakers that just keeps coming. Congrats to all our distance boys that earned PR's Betinho Zunguze (1600m), Gabe Alt (1600m),Brian Granger (1600m, 3200m),Huxley Wilcox (1600m, 3200m),Tadeo Ortiz (3200m),Ricardo Vargas (3200m),Jack Salameh (3200m).
They say track and field is a numbers game, but the Pacific Grove girls just proved it’s actually a game of heart and precision. In a stunning display of efficiency, our roster of girls secured a one-point victory over Stevenson (67.5 - 66.5), proving that you don't need the biggest team to be the best team.
With a smaller squad, there is zero room for "off days," and our girls rose to the occasion by stacking up Personal Bests across the board. Every single girl who stepped on the line or into the field contributed to this win.
Molly Selfridge anchored our field efforts with a double-gold performance in the throws.
Nico Brockmeyer and Gabi Amsler (both hitting PBs) showed that our 400m group can compete with anyone in the league.
Eleanor Holt and Lucia Troy (both with PBs) provided the crucial distance points that kept the meet within reach.
Yeva Yevdash and Jordan Lyons in the Pole Vault brought in valuable points, and in the Triple Jump with Sophie Keller and Rylie Pacheco in the Long jump, all of whom secured points that Stevenson simply couldn't answer.
The highlight of the meet didn't happen in a single lane, but across the entire infield. As the 4x400 relay, the final event of the day, stepped onto the track, all the other athletes on our roster didn't head for the stands. Instead, the entire Breakers squad lined the infield, cheering with a level of passion that no other team could match.
That wall of sound as our anchors came down the homestretch is exactly what our "fun first, respect for the sport" philosophy looks like in action. We might only have 65 athletes now, but when they cheer like that, it sounds like 200.
