Pacific Grove High School Track & Field has been named a recipient of the Big Sur Marathon Foundation's inaugural Community Grants Program, part of a $219,573 award pool distributed to 17 nonprofit organizations across Monterey County this year.

The Breakers were selected alongside organizations including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County, Girls on the Run Central Coast, and MEarth, among others, as part of BSMF's mission to invest in youth development, health, and wellness throughout the region.

The grant funding will go directly toward new hurdles for the track program — equipment that will benefit athletes across all divisions for years to come.

"We're incredibly grateful to the Big Sur Marathon Foundation for recognizing our program and investing in our athletes," - Coach Ryan Travaille. "This support helps us keep our student-athletes competitive and safe."

Since its founding in 1986, BSMF has reinvested more than $7.2 million into the Monterey County community through its signature events, the Big Sur International Marathon and Monterey Bay Half Marathon.
