Feb 28th, 2026 — It was a banner day for Pacific Grove Track and Field as the Breakers combined veteran leadership with a dominant showing from the Frosh/Soph squads. From the sand pits to the oval, the results were punctuated by a long list of Personal Records (PR) and Season Bests (SB), signaling that the team is bought in to the mission and striving foward.
Trenton Maciel hit a PR in the Varsity High Jump, clearing 6-00.00 for the win. He was a whisper away from 6-02.00 In the Frosh/Soph division, Silas Schulz had a 3 PR day by winning the High Jump (5-08.00), the Long Jump (19-06.00), and posted a 41-10.00 to win the Triple Jump. Right behind Silas was Zevulun Knutson with 3rd in the High Jump with a PR of 5-06.00. Over at the sand pit, Travis Travaille recorded a season-best 20-09.50 in the Long Jump to finish second.
With the cool breaze picking up the Varsity boys’ Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team—Betinho Zunguze, Joseph Grief, Tadeo Ortiz, and Antony Gabrik—hit the track and ran away with 1st place and a record board placing time of 11:42.81. Gabrik showing his range, also placed 2nd in the 300m Hurdles with a season-best 45.25.
Freshman Nico Brockmeyer shined bright and secured first place in two events. She won the Frosh/Soph 800 Meters with a personal best of 2:41.67 and cleared 4-04.00 in the High Jump to take the top spot. Showing her speed, Freshman Rylie Pacheco took home two 3rd places in the 100 (14.20 PR) and 200 (30.57 PR) This freshman class has the power to do some special things.
Ryan Hatfield took 1st in the Frosh/Soph Shot Put with a PR of 37-07.00. He followed that performance with a 2nd place finish in the Discus at 81-02. The pole vault crew had a solid showing in the sun, with Jordan Lyons clearing 6-06.00 to take 2nd in the Varsity Girls division. On the boys' side, Malakai Hutchison cleared 7-00.00 for a new Personal Best, showing great progress in one of the track's most technical events.
The Breakers travel to Pebble Beach on Wednesday to take on Stevenson. Come join the fun and cheer on this amazing team as we look to continue growing as a team and as individuals.
