The Breakers traveled to Hollister this past Saturday and were met with perfect weather for an amazing day on the track. Despite having a small but mighty group, PG athletes racked up 28 personal records (PRs) and 8 medals.
One of the biggest improvements came from Junior Trenton Maciel, who, in just his second-ever high jump competition, cleared 5'8"—a six-inch PR—earning 4th place. Sophomore Kabir Sharma, competing in the event for the first time, also impressed, taking 4th with a 5'0" clearance.
In the long jump, Junior Travis Travaille and Sophomore Betinho Zunguze continued their dominance, both winning their divisions with PRs of 21'2" and 19'5", respectively.
On the track, Junior Antony Gabrik showed major progress in the hurdles, dropping over 3.5 seconds from his Palma meet time in the 300m hurdles to 46.93, securing 5th place.
For the Breaker ladies, Sophomore Nika Berezina remained a force in distance events, finishing 2nd in both the 1600m (6:04.49) and 3200m (13:54.84). She nearly medaled in the 800m, placing 6th.
Next up, the entire Breakers squad will travel to North Salinas for their first taste of league competition. This meet will be a strong early test to see if the team is on track for back-to-back league championships!
